The last few days have been a bit hard if i'm honest . In the last couple of months i have seen a marked improvement in the way my skin feels and looks but this latest flare has hung around a bit longer . I have experienced a few of the old symptoms that i had in the first 4 months . My hands have gone for a burton , which is hard for me because of my job . They have swelled like they did before and i have had the white postules back . They itch like crazy when they are forming and then go down , leaving a hard tiny circle of dead skin that sits on the surface of my skin . These are managable when there are just a few but when they join together they leave the skin on my hands realy brittle and sore and then it cracks and is prone to infection . When the little blighters get going theyre a nightmare .Seems like they are fighting each other for space on my hands .
The skin on my neck has been very inflamed this past week so now its going down and returning to a normal colour ,it is also begining to flake and crack on movement . Also very sore and uncomftable . My face is not as bad but feels like it wants to break out several times each day . Woke up last night sweating and this agrevates the inflamed skin . I know its a good sign but untill my skin is more stabalised its just adds to the agrevation and causes more itch.
Another thing is the skin on the inside of my nostrils has become very dry and i think a bit inflamed . This was an ongoing problem for me before i started withdrawel . This is why it was getting passed off as seasonal disorder ect ect . Like we all know ,the skin is one organ so i think that the nostril problem is just another part that the withdrawel flares are reaching .Inhaling steam through my nose is helping to soften and put moisture back and helps with breathing through my nose .This isnt boiling steam by the way . Just warm water in a bowl and stand over it and breath normaly .
My forearms became very dry this last few days as well but this could be down to the fact that i am not moisturising thenm at all . The flare caused them to rash and then inflame so it was inevitable that i would shed some skin . I always forget that when my skin gets inflamed ,it is stretching and the top layer is dying and that this is why it sheds . I still havent moisturised it though i for me it works better that way .
So , i reach day 200 tomorow feeling a bit battered but ok ish . Long way to go yet i think but looking at the posatives keeps me going .
Biggest achievment through this is ....going from , having to cover my body in thick emolient cremes twice to sometimes three times a day plus steroid cremes to only using vaseline on my neck head and hands . I still put it on my face but have to wipe off straight awy because the skin on my face doent tollerate it any more . The flares continue and will do so for a while yet but , are they as bad as before i started this ? They were in the first 4 months but not now .
HAPPY HEALING .
Glad to hear things are getting better for you, JohnBoy.
