Happy to reach such a milestone . I cant beleive how quick six months can go by . At the beggining of this journey to recovery , i was full of dread wandering what lay ahead . I was in a dreadfull state . The 2 years before had been a nightmare because my skin was so saw , red ,swollen and would react to anything that i came in contact with . I was at the doctors on a weekly basis ,sometimes 2 or 3 times a week . Differnt moisturisers all the time and of course more steroids cremes .Nothing was working and it was all getting worse and worse by the day .Then i came across steroid withdrawel patientds on the web . I couldnt beleive how many people were going through the same thing .
At this point my life changed .
Now , when i think about those bad times ,different memories come flooding back . I remember being laid in the bath and praying that something would change and that something could be done to make my skin better again . I remember asking God to give me the strength to put up with it and also i asked him to give the strength to someone else so they could do something for me . i asked him to give someone the power to heal me . Sounds a bit far fetched but i was desperate . Two days after that i came across an article on Dr Rap . He was truly heaven sent .
So now i am six months gone and feeling like i am well on my way to being healed . i still flare but not as bad as in the first 4 months . That was hell . It truly made me feel like a child . I was able to carry on working but it was extremely hard . i am self employed and dont get paid if i diont work . In a way though ,it helped me to keep as normal as possible . At that point of the withdrawel i saw both sides to human nature . Cruel and kind . Lukily foe me ,there were more kind people around me than there wer cruel but i will never forget the glaring and outrite nastiness of some people who looked at my skin with disgust on their faces . They wouldnt recognise me now haha .
Now i feel pretty good most of the time . L ike i said , i still flare on my face every ten days or so . My hands are nowere near normal but they feel better . My back and stomach are normal healed skin .That feels amazing . My legs are doing well and best they have been in years . By far the worse area is my neck . It is getting better and the skin is more stretchy and i can move with ease but i think that my neck and hands will be last to heal . All in all i feel prety good .
i would like to take the opertunity today to thank everyone here for their support and kindness . i truly appreciate it .
And to anyone reading this who are at the start of withdrawel i would just say "keep going , take it a day at a time , dont forget that your main concern is YOU . Be selfish in your healing . remember that in a few months you will feel a lot better than you are feeling at this time in your life . dont give into the thought of going back to steroids "
thank you all . xx
