Hi everyone .
thought i would update today as i have reached another milestone in my recovery . Well i would like to say that alls been well since my last post but im afraid thats not possible .im just coming out of another flair that started about a week ago . i hope im coming out of it anyway . it started with a slight facial tingling then turned to a full facial flair that has spread to my arms legs and chest areas . i must say that it wasnt as bad as previous flairs and it doesnt seem to of lasted as long but it came on quicker than previous flairs and spread quicker also . red , rashy and very sore to the touch . tiny splits on my neck were very painfull and sore . my glands swelled again and became painfull and achy . my eyes became very itchy and swelled slightly . the amount of oozing at night was greater than before and was followed by intense itching on my face and neck . waking up with very tight and dry skin on my face and neck . my hands and wrists swelled slightly as well but that wasnt too bad . i was still able to work but it was very uncomftable at times .
today i woke not feeling too bad and my general skin colour on my face is pretty good . still have a large rash on my chest which nearly reaches my chin . i must say that i think this is the best my face has looked since i stated withdrawel . yeaterday was so so different , with red rash almost covering my cheeks and forehead . cant believe the difference to be honest . how fast the skin can change is amazing me . its as if the rash just completely heals within a few hours . i did sleep a lot yeaterday though so maybe that was the reason it is like it is today . its so up and down .
generaly i feel as if the flairs are becoming shorter but they seem to creep up on me without any warning , were as before i would notice my skin swelling and becoming inflamed and redder which would warn me that i was entering a flair . its hard to explain in words .
i am still using vaseline daily but not so often . before it was nearly 5 to 6 time a day were now i would say its about 3 to 4 times a day . mainly on my neck and its mainly for movement purposes .
ive started not taking antihystamines so often as well . i feel that i dont need to take one daily anymore so i just take when i feel the itch coming on bad enough .
i would just like to say a thing about the way my skin sheds .unlike others i have read about . my shedding all seems to happen when i get into the bath . i think this is due to the vaseline . i think i am continually shedding but it seems to be sticking to the vaseline ,so when i bath it all comes off with the vaseline .also i am not shedding in big flakes . its more like a dusting of tiny bits of skin . i have always shed shed like this apart from when i was a week or two into withdrawel . so , when i get into the bath ,the vaseline begins to come of my body and takes the dead skin with it . i itch intencely for a minute or two then my skin feels calm .
an important thing i have notices is the amount of time my skin seems soft after i get out of the bath . before i would instantly dry out but now i can sit and wait a good 5 minutes before i re-apply the vaseline .thats goota be a good sign that the natural oils in my skin are getting better . i have also started to sweat on my face again . not so much on my cheeks but a lot more on my head and forehead . another good sign .
so basically i feel not to bad . not great but not bad .in fact i feel rather proud of myself today for reaching the four month stage .it sems to have flown by . i cant beleive that a few months ago i was in such a bad state .
if i can compare my condition to how i have been in the past i would say that i am now better than i was when i was on steroid creams . in fact i feel that my skin is in better condition to what it was 3 years ago before this whole thing flared up . thats brilliant .
so know im 4 months in and hoping that the flairs get better and less as time goes by . fingers crossed . hope you are all doing well and that you are all showing signs of a recovery . onward and upward . Ty .x
